This is a wonderful book written by a talented musician, Rachelle Cotugno, with beautiful watercolor illustrations by artist Ally Parrot. The author’s love and devotion to her first seeing eye guide dog, Mandy, shines through on every page. Mandy’s expert skill as a guide and her gentle temperament expanded the author’s range and experiences as she safely navigated the world with Mandy’s assistance. It’s clear from the story that they made a perfect partnership. The love they had for each other seems clear on every page.
And there is a bonus - a QR code at the front of the book that links to Bandcamp where the song, written and sung by Rachelle, can be heard and downloaded.
This is a lovely book all by itself but is especially nice for anyone who knows someone visually impaired who uses a guide dog. The story, the music and the art are all so well done, you won’t want to miss it!
Guiding Eyes For the Blind, in Yorktown Heights, NY, is the great organization that provided Mandy to the author. They cover all training needs for both the guide dog and the person with vision loss, all free of charge.
Troy Book Makers did a fine job publishing, printing and getting the book in the hands of buyers.
