For many women, their hair defines them. When they have been diagnosed with cancer and are then faced with losing their hair to chemotherapy, it can be both devastating and life changing. The Hair Project is a series of black and white portraits accompanied by text written by each of the women photographed. The purpose of the photo essay is to celebrate each woman for her courage, her humor and her ability to make new choices. The stark beauty of the portraits and the power of each woman’s words serve as an inspiration to others who are traveling down the same road.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to non-profit organizations devoted to helping individuals who face cancer.
