Paul Sistern is floundering in life. Estranged from his family and having failed at finding a career he sees his thirtieth birthday approaching with little to show for his efforts. He looks to day trading as a vehicle to reach his goals. However his naivetes along with a habit of bad decision making eventually makes him the target of a D.A. who views Paul as a reminder of her own difficult childhood. Faced with the prospect of a long prison sentence but armed with deep pockets he chooses not to trust the court system. Instead Paul Sistern sets out to neutralize every potential witness the government might have until the last remaining obstacle to his freedom is the overreaching D.A.
