ONE MAN’S JOURNEY … SAVED BY MEDICATION

After turning 70 years of age and completing a 50-year career in the practice of public accounting, Gerald Archibald decided to document the journey of his life. This book could not have been published during his career without jeopardizing his ability to be successful as a CPA working with and supporting more than 600 nonprofit organizations. His reflections, beginning in his early childhood years and continuing through his semi-retirement, chronicle his path to success while maintaining a dark secret.
The book describes his experiences, which led him to believe that he has lived through the best 70 years of American history. After his first three decades filled with unusual behaviors, anxiety, and depression, he found that prescription medication would be the key component of any future accomplishments.
The author is hopeful that sharing his story publicly for the first time will encourage others, at whatever stage of life they may be, to address, not suppress, the challenges and struggles they face.

Gerald Archibald is a certified public accountant, having devoted his 50-year career to supporting and advising nonprofit health and human services organizations. His professional career has given him the means to satisfy his passion for supporting the less fortunate as a philanthropist. He has written more than 200 business journal articles on nonprofit management issues. He has been a presenter at numerous conferences across New York State in which he has shared his strategies and insights with board and management leaders of human services provider organizations supporting vulnerable populations. In his spare time, over the past 10 years, he has developed a serious interest in collecting classic cars. He resides on Honeoye Lake in the Finger Lakes Region with Betsy, his wife of more than 40 years. Their daughter Julie is a geriatric nurse practitioner and their son Bill is an hematologist.
