The Hoosick River runs adjacent to Highland Springs, an upstate New York Community, population 5500 and declining. Highland Springs peaked around the turn of the century when it had a population of approximately 7000. Welcome to Highland Springs 2027, where a dark force rears its ugly head, disrupting lives in this idyllic rural village. In 2022 due to political events and effects of the Covid epidemic, New York City residents and business owners left the metropolis in droves to establish uncommon venues in this quaint town resulting in intermingling of city and rural folk. Add to that Tap Water Hell (Investor’s Journal 11/2021). Millions in U.S. shun tap water as infrastructures deteriorate and an increasing number of safe drinking water regulations are being violated. Due to factory spillage sites and municipalities adopting cheaper water sources, residents are becoming sick with people getting cancer, skin rashes, losing their hair and suffering from lead poisoning. In addition, the village coroner discovers poison in the bodies of three of the recently deceased. P. I. Tony Pastore is called in to investigate an event that has the entire town on edge.
