On the northern edge of Albany...Warren Crow's thirteen-year-old neighbor Jesse has found a body in the city's underdeveloped and overgrown Tivoli Park. Afraid of being identified as the person who found it, he asks Crow to report the body to the police as his own discovery. Crow does report it, and thereby involved himself in the investigation of what turns out to be a series of murders, whose victims he suspects were left in the park to create pressure on the city to sell the land. The more Crow learns, the more questions are raised. What does Jesse know? What does the enigmatic Robert Goodwin know? Who would want to buy the land, and for what purpose? And why is an investor-or possibly more than one investor-also buying up homes in the adjacent neighborhood? Rumors multiply, as more bodies appear...
