In the years leading up to the American Civil War, two distinct, yet very similar men, embark on separate journeys within their new country. Each of them comes from a different world. Neither one has traveled to America by choice - both being victims of circumstance rather than that of pure adventurer. Like all lives, within each of their arcs, these two men find those who fervently wish to help and guide, along with those that choose to cheat and misuse. Along the way, they each learn the power of captured imagery and its persuading influence.

As a fellow reviewer said of his work, “modern American fiction too rarely exhibits such qualities and values.” --Jariya Wanapun, Penguin
